I've done it. I've finally done it.
I can happily declare that Animator's Dream Episode I - Animator's Dream has been finished.
I am now in the process of proofreading the novel and, if necessary, removing redundant content. After that, I will find a publisher or have the novel self-published on amazon.com. I will also make a cover for my novel myself; I will hand draw the cover and color it using Photoshop and Illustrator.
This has been a novel six years in the making. Years of concept making and putting it off to take breaks has finally paid off. All I have to do now is get my work submitted and published, spread the word, and hopefully I'll have a hit on my hands. Granted, I may have better odds of winning the lottery, but you never know. Some novels become big overnight, others are sleepers, and a few even become cult classics. Hopefully my work will be big to the point I can make it onto the big or even small screens. Who knows? Maybe I'll put my work on Toonami...

The Rise of Audiobooks
I google searched 'audiobook article' one day to find extra information regarding audiobooks to revise my writing report with. Two articles in particular that caught my eye came from both the Wall Street Journal and the Independent, both being high reputation websites.
The articles interested me because it shows how far audiobooks have come in terms of accessibility. In my writing report, I mentioned how it was a luxury for school libraries and public libraries had entire sections for audiobook access. I also stated, however, that the evolution of technology has made it possible for audiobooks to be available to anyone with a computer and/or a smartphone. Previously, audiobooks had to be carried around via CD player or tape cassette, both cumbersome devices. Nowadays, MP3 files; iPods and mobile media players almost replace such devices and make it easier to enjoy and carry around audiobooks.
In addition, audiobooks in the marketplace are now worth unbelievable profits. Sales of audiobooks are on the rise and it's changing the way books are read in a positive way. Amazon's audible service has over twenty thousand audiobooks with narrations and they add more a month. Billions of dollars in revenue are raked in, and prices are on par with that of e-books. This is a far cry from the past where audiobooks cost $50 tops.
This is a big deal for me because I want to hire voice actors for audiobook adaptations of my work. Voice actors also benefit because it's considered a lucrative side job for them. Hollywood talent tends to take the reign of some audiobook titles, but my works won't have such talent. I wanted to get voice actors from anime; cartoons and games involved in my audiobook projects. Ditto that remark for any animated or game based adaptations of my work.
I was actually inspired by such voice actors reading books that I got from the library. That's what motivated me to write my novels, so the same would happen with my work. That's why I want to write novels: to introduce new stories and to get my role models involved.

Novel Progress as of 2015
I've been writing my Animator's Dream novel since the year 2010. That's five years of me writing out this novel, but I have to admit some of that time was spent taking a break from it.
The time spent writing this book consisted of going through my outline and getting inspirations for the characters in the various chapters. I also spent time revising and even overhauling the manuscript. The issue is that I've written more content than I wanted and I felt some of it was irrelevant filler. In rare cases it's a matter of changing text based on subject matter, but those instances are rare.
Now, I will admit most of my time had been spent not writing the novel but that's because I was taking a break and gathering thoughts. I only got back into the groove of writing it because it'd been on hold for a long time. I hear of stories of writers putting out books every few months and here I am with my first novel having been under writing for a half of a decade. These are people churning out books and making some kind of money while I am still working on my own.
That's changed now. I've started getting back on track and even set up special scheduling to keep myself working. In addition to school and secondary tasks, I've been making plans for my career and overall future. I'm not going to specify what kind of plans since this is no place for my personal life and details, but it's time for me to change for the better and to complete long-term goals. This includes this novel.

Hiatus Return
For anyone that's new to this blog, feel free to ignore this post and just treat it as a "welcome to my blog" posting. Everyone else, read on.
I'm announcing the return to my blog after two years of no activity. I haven't posted anything in a long time not only because of outside issues, but also I felt that I haven't had anything new to say in a while.
That's about to change since from this point on, every two days a new blog posting will be created. Topics will range from progress in my novel; discussions about voice actors and audiobooks; product reviews; and other quality topics.
Again, I haven't had anything to write in a while but I promise I will change that. In fact I plan on making lots of changes not just in my blog, but with myself and others.

Noel's first side story done, and thoughts on other works
I finally finished Noel's first side story after many months of delays. Now I can work on Chapter 5. *insert celebratory music and scenes here*
Though, there is more to this than celebrations. I also had some added ideas for the later Animator's Dream novels, as well as the current project at hand; even had some changes, too.
-Noel gets a new outfit to alter, based off of Noel Vermillion from BlazBlue (Noel can shapeshift her outfit to that of Noel's. Go figure)
-Devil's Mistress appears earlier in Chapter 5 rather than later
-Kirk argues with the characters in Chapter 5 to reveal his dark past further
Also, I have additions to the sequel, too.
-Addition of a character based off of Karen Strassman, and is to be the sister of the character based off of Lara Jill Miller.
-The Lara Jill Miller/Karen Strassman sisters based off of a mixture of a fan made character and Kari Kamiya from Digimon Adventure 01/02 and Sally Acorn from Sonic SatAM and the Archie Sonic comics
-Main hero and his friends now must rely on more teamwork to compensate for the now eight man band compared to Kirk's overpowered five-man band
-The Karen Strassman/Lara Jill Miller sisters to have evil twins to complicate the story
-Instead of characters speaking Japanese, now there are characters that can speak French.
Plus some other stuff I won't list yet.

The heroes of Animator's Dream and the roles they play
I'm almost done with Noel's first side story, so to fill in the gap of a blog post per week, I'd write about the five primary characters and the sort of roles they play.
Before I discuss this, though, I'd like to point out that I got this idea from Electronic Arts' Battlefield games, as well as Star Wars: Battlefront. The two games are known for their classes of soldiers with their own strengths and weaknesses. I wanted to create groups of heroes in the Animator's Dream novels because I didn't want a team where one size fitted all. That would be boring. So without further due, the classes of the heroes.
Kirk - Assault - Kirk is the front lines specialist of the bunch. His job is to clear out the baddies in the middle of a fight. Advantages include being good against most infantry types and at least light vehicles, but weaknesses include not being able to take on heavy vehicles without the right weapons.
Tigercat - Special Assault - Like Kirk, Tigercat is a front lines specialist, but she is unique in that she uses different weapons, such as suppressed weapons. This means that she gets the jump on enemy infantry when she can. Again, advantages are infantry types, but her disadvantage is not taking on vehicles as well as Kirk or B.W.
Miyu Kusanagi - Close-Quarters/Missile Spam hybrid - Miyu Kusanagi is a different basket of eggs altogether. She is good at all ranges both close and beyond. This means she can not only deal with swarms of infantry, but also take on vehicles and things that can fly. Her only weakness is that she can only take on one group of enemies at a time, and her missiles were really meant to overwhelm defenses.
B.W. - Heavy Weapons Specialist - If there's a target to break, B.W. will break it. His heavy weapons like grenade launchers, rail guns, heavy laser rifles, large missiles and rockets smash foes like no other. Advantages include being a threat to vehicles and infantry, and even some aircraft, too, but weaknesses are a crippling specialization due to the nature of his specialty.
Noel - Unique - If you thought Miyu was different, wait until you see Noel. Noel is even more different than Miyu in that she is the niche role in the Animator's Dream Five Man Band. She specializes in being able to do what the others can't. She has no notable weaknesses as a result.
So there, that's the Five Man Band of Animator's Dream in a nutshell. Quite a cast, I say.

Chapter 5 delay
So, I haven't been able to get Chapter 5 up and running yet. I've been a little busy with school and whatnot, and I've also been having too much fun to the point that I've been ignoring my novel. I'm going to get back to work on it once I start balancing out my schedule and work, since I don't want it to be like Duke Nukem Forever in which it has been in the works for over two years, or in that game's case fourteen. Until then, I'll get Noel's first side-story finished.

A lesson on quality vs. rushing out the door
http://www.screwattack.com/news/goku-vs-superman-update
This is an update regarding the online show Death Battle, with possibly the show's biggest fight ever: Goku from Dragon Ball Z, and Superman. The update states that the show is taking longer than anticipated because of how the animator is working around the clock for this special production. What struck to me is how the animator and the show's producers refused to cut corners and put on a good show.
This is how I wanted to write out my work; though not 24/7 like the person working on the video, I wanted to be sure to not cut corners and think about how I write out my books. I don't want to have to worry about removing content and rushing out my work only to have to make director's cut versions of my work; that's reserved for some side books that explain what happened behind the scenes when I didn't want to bloat the books with unnecessary filler. In short, quality over Christmas rushing. That's the moral of this blog.

2013 is upon us
Well, this is pretty much the last post that I write for the year 2012. It was quite a thrill ride for me, let me tell you. A lot has been happening that changed my life forever in this year alone, and I am amazed at the progress I've made. Of course, I can't have a new years post without a resolution of sorts. So, without further ado, my new years resolutions:
-Work on my novel, except sticking to my 'finish one chapter by Saturday' rule (I've been slow with it and it's time I got back to work on it)
-Do at least one blog post a week (I haven't been on here lately, mostly because of outer issues)
-Get my novel published
-Focus on losing weight some
-Maybe open a YouTube account (I have lots of videos I want to show off)
-Do some more artwork, especially character art for my novel
So there, that's my resolutions in a nutshell. Have a happy new year, everyone!

Books for potential manga/anime artists
Have you ever wanted to draw in a style similar to your favorite anime or manga works? Do you want to create a show or manga series of your own? Perhaps these books would help on your path to success.
Manga for Dummies:
The Complete Idiot's Guide to Drawing Manga Illustrated, 2nd Edition:
Manga for the Beginner Shoujo:
http://www.amazon.com/Manga-Beginner-Shoujo-Everything-Japanese/dp/0823033295/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1344715047&sr=1-1&keywords=manga+for+the+beginner+shoujo
While these are three common books, they're done by expert artists who know their topics well. Highly recommend these books if you can find them in stores, on Amazon.com or eBay, or even your local library. I'm using these books as a resource to learn how to create my characters for my novel, so people will have an idea of what the characters will look like. Oh, and sorry if I haven't done anything in a while.
